[Day Three - Late Afternoon] All Fun and Games

[Imogen Baker]

"Really?" Imogen couldn't help but look at Marlowe incredulously at the mention of corn. She did dream of corn but she thought it was more than the place was seeping into her imagination rather than something strange. "If not the people, then the corn, eh? I guess there might be nothing else to this place. I kind of recall what Tiffani said last night. Still, it's a lot of fields to cover and more likely to get us lost than not."

"I suppose if there's anywhere people have ever stayed, it would be the hotel. And the church too, I bet. There must have been a bunk or two for the less fortunate and the occasional vagrants, maybe?"

[Marlowe Phillips]

"That's true." I nodded in agreement. "Good places to investigate. I could take a direct look into the past, but I'd need to know where and when to look. And, the corn is definitely a part of this."

[Imogen Baker]

"I can't say I can do the same thing you can do. Perhaps I can put in some leg work around here, at least." She said as she looked at a few of the locals as they began drifting away from the fair.

[Marlowe Phillips]

"Any information could be helpful." I nodded again. "It's clear that we've only scratched the surface."

[Imogen Baker]

Imogen gave a small shake of her head. "To be honest, it kind of feels like we're part of a show or a ride...and everyone is working as production. It's not a comfortable feeling not knowing how it's going to end or what's going on here."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"With the harvest imminent, I suspect we'll get more answers soon." I looked around. "This town exists because of the corn. What I saw suggests that the corn may be tied to us."

[Imogen Baker]

"Does that mean we should be avoiding the corn around here?" She asked as she looked at her cornbread on a stick as well as all the corn related things in the festival. "There is also that guy who consumed a huge amount of corn, I heard. Does he fit into anything here?"

[Marlowe Phillips]

I could only shrug. "It looked like the blood of the changeling may have fed the corn, or had an influence of some kind. I don't know what that means, though. As for the corn eating champion, he might be worth watching."

[Imogen Baker]

One of Imogen's eyes narrowed with a thought. "This isn't the first year they've been growing corn...Do you think they've been doing this every year then?"

[Marlowe Phillips]

"It's possible." I nodded. "But, we really don't know. It could be done every few years, once a decade or any schedule., assuming there is one."
