[Day One - Late Morning] After Me Lucky Charms!

[Imogen Baker]

"Not that I know of," she said as she stopped herself from reaching for her smartphone to confirm. "The motel is the only place in town that's advertised. I'm sure if you look hard enough, there must be a grandmother who would be willing to rent you an antic room or some farming family who would be willing to lend you a room. Everyone small town like this has one, right?"

[Marlowe Phillips]

"I think I'll stick to the motel." Lonely motel rooms were my usual style of lodging, especially the cheap ones. "I can't imagine it being very busy."

[Imogen Baker]

Imogen took a leave from their conversation for a moment to go over to a minifridge to pick up some over-priced water that promised to be filled with electrolytes. She smirked faintly with a few nods. "I imagine that even if it's you and I, they consider that something of an unprecedented tourist boost around here."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"A little extra excitement for the locals." I chuckled softly. "We'll probably be the talk of the town."

[Imogen Baker]

"I don't know if that's exactly a good thing around here," she murmured with a partially conspiratory tone. After a beat, she picked up another bottle, just in case. Getting a vague idea of how the locals might recycle their water, it might better to drink bottled than from the tap. "But I guess it can't be helped. It's obvious that we stick out...even as we appear."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"At least we have each other." I handed her one of my cards. "If you need me for something, and you can't find me at the motel, give me a ring."

[Imogen Baker]

Imogen easily accepted his card and slid it into her jean pocket. "Thanks," she said, kind of wishing she brought her cards on this errand. This wasn't the sort of place she thought she would be picking up customers. "I'll keep that in mind, as long as the reception works around here. I think I'm able to get one bar when the sun is shining in the right place, heh. The town is pretty small enough that I'm sure we'll run into each other."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"Probably." It would be a concern if we didn't cross paths. That was what the card was for, though. "I suppose I should probably go get checked in."

[Imogen Baker]

"All right, I got more shopping to do and a fridge to fill," she said with a few nods. There were those Lucky Charms she had to find, maybe there would be an actual Leprechaun she could take them off of. The chances were higher than finding them here, at least.

"See you around, Marlowe," she flashed a twp-finger wave with the cookies in her hand.

"I'm sure you will, Imogen. It was good to meet you." With a parting nod, I turned to door, giving the clerk a passing glance.

Outside I looked around at what I could see of the town. There wasn't much. But I had a feeling that I wouldn't be done with Maize, until it was done with me. Time to find that motel.
