There were some types of rabbits, Reina reflected, that would enjoy the environment of Maize. Huge open plains, not too wet, plenty of forage and whatnot. She, however, was not that type. The corn fields were a little nicer, since they weren't too exposed, but it was still very organized. She didn't miss the forest exactly. Well, she didn't miss The Forest, but it was uncomfortable to feel so exposed.
Still... Having a little bit of nature like the park was nice. She sat lightly on the top of a park bench, resting her feet on the seat as she looked out over the park, chewing thoughtfully on a slightly stale danish from the continental breakfast at the motel. It wasn't much, but it would fill her stomach for scoping out the town in a little while. She'd need to get some decent protein at some point, but the hunting around here wasn't going to be great. Some birds and rodents and insects, maybe. Scavengers tasted bad, and that eliminated a bunch of urban prey. She sighed.

Parks, even in the cold, were perfect places for a hustle. The Eclipse smiled at passers-by, as simple card tricks were performed at the side of the sidewalk. As he performed his 'magic', he would talk to, distract the occasional people who walked by. Keep their attention away from his hands, as he palmed cards or pulled them into the sleeves of his oversized hoodie.
It so reminded him of working the traveling carnival of his youth, the only way he found to escape the calamity of the Great Depression, the hunger of the Dust Bowl.
To bring that spark of joy to others affected back then. Not as powerful now, but still a mighty need.

He felt a presence over his shoulder shortly, eyes on him like a curious animal had followed his movements and decided to check him out from a distance. In a sense, it was fairly close to the truth. A person had come up behind, peaking curiously over his shoulder from a short distance away.

While the mask was that of a lanky, thin and wiry young man, the mien was almost blinding in its darkness. A glowing Corona around an inky blackness of smoke. Eyes glowing bright as he felt that presence. Turning to face his observer, the cards were idly shuffled in one hand.
"Mornin'!" His voice had a very midwestern drawl, the kind that says they say 'ope, lemme just squeeze right by ya, bud' in its very intonation.

Large, red (or pinkish-lavender if one looked at the surface) eyes blinked back at him, peering out from under a black hood lined with white fur. She bore mostly rabbit-like features that he could see, aside from oversized forepaws with long claws and a longer, more sweeping tail. She approached hesitantly. "Morning." Her voice was quiet, having a touch of accent to it, as if she'd grown up speaking Spanish.

He was taken aback for a moment. He shouldn't have been surprised that one of *them* had kept another so beautiful. Too thin fingers ran through the shadowy wisps that made up his hair. He stood tall as he spoke, but kept his stance friendly. Especially as he noted how she seemed to remain quite shy and withdrawn.
"I wasn't expecting to see someone else from the old countrunhere so soon to arriving. Shouldn't be surprised though. I think there might be something here a lot of the royals might want to know." Around him, the scent of fresh rain and clean grass wafted.

"I was just passing through... Friend had a weird hunch, though," she said, looking away and shifting from foot to foot. Her claws crossed over one another, the gentle tapping noise sounding a little like ice. "I wasn't expecting that, either. I think just two people shifts the average age in a town like this."
