When the Maize Cafe came up for sale due to retirement, Gloria, a waitress for twenty years, arranged to purchase the establishment. While she worked there, it was a greasy diner. Gloria kept on the same fry cook, but cooks her own pies and pastries.

The owner of Expressions, a boutique that sells flowers and gifts, Carrie is an older woman who dyes her short hair to hide the grey. The shop is always empty, and it’s a wonder that it doesn’t go bankrupt, but the store has managed to stay open for more than a decade. Carrie can even afford to take extended vacations, one of which she is away on now.

Young and under-educated, Allen is the janitor and groundskeeper at the Maize Public School. He also does on-call maintenance for the Mall and some other businesses, to make a little extra money. His only interests are cars and drinking, and he enjoys tinkering on his 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX.

His skin is an attractive, lustrous lilac-grey, with an opalescent-like sheen; his features have an angular, rough-hewn quality. Steven has not joined a Court, he has been far too consumed with his personal mission. The Elemental is quick to anger, and prone to rush in without thinking things through.
