Today is the first day of the harvest, and the skies are bright and clear. The kids don’t have school, and many businesses remain closed. The warm trend continues, holding back the chill of the day to make the day’s work more tolerable. After lunch, the farm hands have stripped down to shirt sleeves, sweating as they bale and haul the fallen stalks, drive the machinery, and monitor the grain being collected.
