Dust Be My Destiny

[Marlowe Phillips]

"There's a shutterbug I met this morning." I dropped a dime on the dame from the gas station. "I saw another at the bar tonight. Haven't spoken to him yet."

[Reina Silva]

"What's a shutterbug?" She asked. Then she paused. "From context, I assume it's a kind of person and not really a bug."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"A photographer." I clarified. "She said she was looking for some interesting places to shoot."

[Reina Silva]

"Oh. I bet there's an camera insect somewhere Out There inspired by that term," she mused. "Seems like there might be interesting things here even if there weren't before with all these lost souls here. I met a solar eclipse that could do card tricks earlier."

[Marlowe Phillips]

"I wouldn't normally suggest this, but we should all get together." Working alone was a cardinal rule in this job, but not always the best option. "If we were all drawn here, we may need one another."

[Reina Silva]

Long claws tap steadily against the table, then she nods. "A pack is safer, if it's dangerous. And multiple sets of eyes can see predators and food sooner. It's not like we have the disadvantages of having to split kills in this case."

[Marlowe Phillips]

I nodded in agreement. "I don't think we'll be competing with each other. I don't know why we're here yet, but we're in it together."

[Reina Silva]

She kicked out a foot, frowning. What she was wearing were apparently boot covers rather than shoes. "It's kind of a weird coincidence in this tiny town. So yeah. Making a pack sounds good."

She looked over. "So what's your story, Whiskey Man?"

[Marlowe Phillips]

I poured another cup and took a long drink. What was there to say?

"I'm pretty much what you see. I became a detective because of my Pop. He was a cop before he went private. I didn't make it far past the academy, myself. Things had changed. My time on the other side changed things a bit. I was made into a 'proper' gumshoe and I was introduced to the stranger side reality. Investigations became alot weirder."

[Reina Silva]

She nodded thoughtfully as she listened. "Hmm... interesting."
