Covering less than two square kilometres (around 0.7 sq miles), Maize is little more than a blip breaking up the seemingly endless corn fields that surround it. There are few notable locations in the village; with a population of 348, it doesn’t even qualify to be called a town. There is no police station in Maize, the nearest police are in the next town over, a part of the neighbouring county.

St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church
Catering to the Roman Catholic worshippers, St Andrew is the primary church of Maize. It is headed by Father Robert Henshall, who provides Mass each Sunday, as well as the usual services provided by the Catholic Church.

Maize Uniting Church
Smaller than the Catholic Church, this building serves those of Maize’s second-largest religious groups, the Protestants.

Maize Public School
A simple two-story building that caters to several surrounding towns; there aren’t a lot students, and mixed-grade classes are the norm.

Maize Co-op Depot
This central location serves as a point of coordination for Maize’s export. All of the farms are members of the co-op.

Johnson Family Funeral Home
Every town, no matter how small, needs a funeral home, the final business all men and women need.

Maize City Park
A reasonably-sized plot of land owned by the Council that holds host to such events as fetes and festivals.
