There is a howl, a final dying shriek as the shreds of life clinging to the Huntsman’s cold body are snuffed out, his form going limp, crushed by the vines that encircle him in their deadly embrace. The steed, a demonic beast if ever one existed, screamed shrilly, it pawed at the ground, throwing up sparks and chips of concrete. But it could not exist in this world, the mundane place of concealed magic. It was only permitted here while the Huntsman willed it and, for a time, the Huntsman could will nothing at all.

Just as he had arrived, a tear in the veil appeared, pulling the shrieking goat-thing into the Hedge, dragging the Huntsman’s corpse along with it. When it was gone there was a deathly silence, your ears still ringing with the mount’s cries.


Any Changeling with the Acute Senses merit takes -1 die to any rolls that might reasonably be penalised by partial deafness for the duration of D5. All participants need to roll Resolve + Composure.

Imogen would have been slightly disappointed that she wasn't able to reach it in time to take a swipe but the horrifying sound the thing made afterwards immediately extinguished that thought.

Penn was breathing heavily as the thorns and vines snuffed out the huntsman's body. Closing his eyes as he looked away from the sound and fury, he would then look to the others.

"Ivy, it is done. Thank you." He spoke silently, and released the contract.

It actually took a few moments for what had just happened to be completely processed by Tiffani's rational, scientific mind. A huntsman was bad enough - but seeing the steed ripped from this world by some kind of extraplanar portal was wholly surreal. But once it was done and the silence descended on the scene, the fact that she had expended so much of herself in that fight caught up with her. All she could do was sink slowly down to her knees and close her eyes, grateful it was over. Now ... she was exhausted and her hands trembled almost uncontrollably.
